Gutter Strainer
The installation of gutter strainers in your downspouts will cost effectively help your gutter system by reducing downspout blockage caused by leaves, sticks and other debris….even stray baseballs! Strainers are particularly important when your gutters are connected to underground drains where if debris accumulates it can create a serious and expensive blockage. Unclogging this may require expensive equipment or even replacement of the underground system.
It is important to note that copper gutters require copper or stainless steel strainers due to galvanic corrosion. Copper reacts chemically with aluminum (often referred to as electrolysis), eventually resulting in holes in the gutter and damage to the strainers. For this same reason we never use copper strainers in aluminum gutters.
Our gutter technicians usually recommend the installation of strainers if you do not already have them but feel free to ask!! Prices start at only $7 each and they are available in stainless or galvanized steel.

The Spring Gutter Strainer™ has an innovative spring coil design and is made from only one piece of wire; this allows no room for failure of any parts. The wire diameter is 1/8th of an inch, which is almost twice as thick as any other conventional strainer wire. Due to the thickness of this wire, the strainer is stronger and heavier (close to 1/2 lb.) and will stay in its position in the downspout. In fact, it will stay in place even if one uses a leaf blower to clean the gutters.
